“I took fashion design in high school and then in college I studied costume design. I used to always sew for my friends. I’d go to the store, buy fabric, and used to buy patterns too but then I just started winging it without a pattern. My mom has a huge Christmas Eve party every year and I remember I found this dress in a magazine - it was actually Jill Stuart - and I was like, ‘I need to wear this tonight!’ The dress was from a future season coming up, so it wasn’t even out yet. So I just went to the fabric store and made it that day to wear to the party. Of course it didn’t look that similar, but I wore it.”
